CAMPS
Fairy Tale Advice Council (A Mini-Musical)

There's trouble in Fairly Tale Land and the council, led by Rapunzel, a Handsome Prince and a (recovering) Wicked Witch, offer help in character-building to the famous folk creatures. Will Jack and the Giant finally be able to put aside their differences? Will the Big Bad Wolf overcome his eating disorder? Will Baby Bear be able to forgive Goldilocks for breaking his bed? Introduce your child to the wonderful world of song, dance and acting in this wildly fun mini-musical as they meet these and other beloved fairy tale characters.
Improvisation Camp

An intensive weeklong camp exploring the art of improvisational theater to teach kids to focus their creativity and collaborate on the spot. Improvisation improves a wide variety of skills such as listening, public speaking, creative thinking, spontaneity, self-confidence, team-building, and, of course, sense of humor. Come laugh with us as we create skits out of "thin air"!
Workshop Theatre "Flappers Too" Camp
When: June 17-21, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00Instructor: TBA
Target Audience: Ages 10-13
Cost: $120

Master complex combinations -- kickline tricks included -- and learn a complete vocal and tap routine as a member of this new Broadway-style tap ensemble for "junior Flappers"! The finished routine will be performed for family and friends at week's end. (This camp will also serve as an audition for those campers who wish to remain with the Workshop Theatre "Flappers Too" throughout the 2012-2013 year, meeting one to two times a month to refine their routine. Tuition for August through May will be $5 per month.)
Workshop Theatre Flappers Camp #1

Munchkin Mediation (A Mini-Musical)

Come join us as we look in on the characters of Oz one year later. They've been having trouble readjusting, and their quarrels have led to the throwing of more than one yellow brick. Perhaps it's no surprise that the Good Witch and Wicked Witch (yes, she's back in solid form!) still don't get along. But the Tin Man and Lion can't agree on anything either, and even Dorothy and Toto are barking at each other. With memorable tunes, fancy footwork and silly humor, help us resolve the conflicts in Oz one more time.
Sing Out Loud & Proud!

This fun-filled camp will focus on proper technique, how to belt properly and safely, and also some basic sight-reading to prepare participants for future auditions!
You're So Dramatic! - An Introduction to the Fun of Theatre

Target Audience: Grades 5-8

Focusing on the four concepts "Play," "Move," "Imagine - Create," and "Create - Perform," this camp will help stimulate and help develop an excitement about learning through drama. Campers will develop skills that aid in drama productions, monologues and improvisations...and they'll have fun! The camp will be led by Stacey Scott, a graduate of The Juilliard School who has studied with such stars of the theatre as Phylicia Rashad, Kevin Spacey and Laura Linney (to name a few) and has taught with the National Theatre of Costa Rica, Utah's Snow College Acting Intensive, and Artists Striving to End Poverty (ASTEP) in New Orleans.
One Direction Connection!

For summer fun singing and dancing, you can only go "One Direction"! Join us as we work on vocals and dance moves -- and create cool costumes -- using One Direction's hits! This camp will be a non-stop party!! (A mini-concert will be presented at the end of the week.)

Introduction to Acting

Have you always wanted to try acting? Then this class is for you!
This is a workshop-style class for people who have had little or no acting training. It is designed to introduce the student to theatre, and the basic principles of acting for the stage and/or screen. Topics covered will include: theatre terminology, movement on the stage, Method Acting (and other schools of acting), creative improvisation, pantomime, script analysis, basic audition techniques, overcoming stage-fright, vocal control, general character development, taking direction, and building confidence. The class will have a relaxed atmosphere and comes with a 100% laughter/fun guarantee!!

Perfect for competitive dancers and other performers, this class will help participants maintain or gain skills in tumbling that are a crucial part of many musical theatre and competition numbers. Each participant will be met at their current level and helped to advance in the development of cartwheels, round-offs, walk-overs, chest rolls, backbends...and more!
Private Dance Lessons

British Dialects

This workshop is designed for actors and/or speakers who would like to improve their ability to pick up British dialects. Students will learn the International Phonetic Alphabet, which is an alphabet of sounds, as well as the basics of how dialects work, practicing both upper- and lower-class British dialects.

Full payment for each class or workshop is due at registration.
A 10% discount is available on the second and subsequent camp, class or workshop for families with more than one student, and for students taking more than one camp. [These discounts do not apply to ReWired audition workshops.]
Refunds will be issued for any classes or workshops canceled by Workshop Theatre. Participants who choose to withdraw from a class must do so by 5:00 p.m. on the registration deadline date to receive a refund.
Minimum enrollment for all camps, classes and workshops is 5 participants.
Workshop reserves the right to remove participants from any classes due to behavior problems.
